Excellent weapon, ran 75 rounds through it first time out to the range with no problems. The adjustable stock makes it great for multiple shooters of different sizes to use the same weapon comfortably. I did remove the shell carrier from the stock as it was somewhat in the way but other than that this is a top notch weapon.

Great, fun, reliable weapon for home defense. It''s easy to handle and packs quite a punch. I couldn''t be happier with the purchase that I made three years ago. My family sleeps better knowing that my Mossberg is ready to go for any unpleasant social applications.

I own 1 of these pump shootguns there reliable and easy to use.The forend strap is nice for rapid shooting.There great and aren't so delicate as Beretta,Winchester or some Remis. There multi purpose so you can be target practicing 1 day and the next slugging at Bambie's mom!!

I am a former law enforcement officer of 10 years, called into the ministry for the past 27 years. I began looking for a new home defense weapon, having sold several years ago I wish I still owned. After looking and researching Remington 870, 877, Weatherby PA-490, and several Mossberg models, I settled on the Mossberg 500 Special Purpose Tactical. Mine has the collapsible stock, factor heat shield, webstrap on slide forearm. I started to spend a little more for the 590, but the 500 with collapsible stock just fit me better. And the size is better for close quarters such as in home defense. I plan to add a rail for my tactical light, and may later put a rail on top of the receiver for some sight system, but I truly love it as it is. I have hunted all my life, shot many types of guns, carried various riot style guns when in law enforcement, but nothing for the money can beat this Mossberg. Really...I BOUGHT MINE NEW FOR $309.00!!! Man what a buy! If you can get one, grab it now!!!

THE BEST OVERALL SURVIVAL DEFENSE SHOULDER WEAPON TO HAVE.MINE IS BASIC BUT VERY UPGRADEABLE. I HAVE A M-500 CRUISER.FIRST I REMOVED THE PISTOL GRIP AND PUT ON THE SHOULDER STOCK.SOME SMALL EXTRAS TO INCLUDE A 28 INCH BIRD HUNTING BARREL.ITS READY.

I love this gun. Its exactly what I used to breach doors when needed. This gun packs a punch and is very simple operation that anyone could use it. Which is why the military and law enforcement trust there lifes to this gun and all it has even asked 4 is some oil every now and then and a barrel cleaning too. Buy this gun if u want something that will last and prob never break or give u many headaches.
